Meet The Speartek Team

Speartek has been led by founder and President Derek Griffin since we built the first website in 2000. With a background in public accounting and corporate finance, Derek acts as a business solutions consultant to our clients, understanding their unique business challenges and how a website can improve profitability through revenue growth and operational cost savings. Most projects are defined and managed by Derek and if you ever see Speartek at a tradeshow, Derek will be at our booth.

When not working – Its hard to narrow down to a single activity, so we’ll go with mountain biking, hiking national parks, and concerts / live music.

Recent memorable experience – Foo Fighters in concert with my daughter, 4th row center stage, Fathers Day weekend. Honorable mention would be annual hiking trips to national parks – I am up to 35!

Furry Friend – Theo the Australian Shepherd is an occasional office visitor and mascot.

Gene has been providing technical support for all Speartek clients since June of 2010. A belief in a rapid response to issues and inquiries and attention to detail is the key to success. He figures, what keeps our clients going, keeps us going.

When not working, Gene likes to balance his free time on his PS4, the gym, hanging with friends at different watering holes, the Marietta Square and just piddling here and there. Piddling, it's a southern thing. He's also a huge Alabama fan. ROLL TIDE

Furry Friend - This would be the first time in over 20 years that Gene has been without a furry friend, but he does see a new one in the near future.

Diego serves as a Backend Developer at Speartek, designing and building robust solutions that enhance system performance. With a sharp analytical mindset, he specializes in solving performance issues and ensuring every component runs efficiently. Known for his collaborative spirit, Diego thrives in team environments and is committed to delivering value both technically and interpersonally.

Outside of work, Diego enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, and, above all, traveling with his family. These passions keep him balanced, motivated, and energized in his daily life.

Loyal Companion – Angie, his affectionate and faithful dog, is always eager to join him on car rides and brings warmth and joy wherever they go.

I've been passionate about computer systems since I was a child. I enjoy creating and improving existing systems and learning new technologies. Life isn't all about coding, I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoying sports like soccer and padel. Recently, my daughter has taken up padel, and we've already seen two padel premiers in Argentina. We have dogs and cats at home, which are like part of the family.

Furry Friends - Michiminage and Miel, mother and daughter. Lolo, Spanish water dog, who passed away last month after 13 years of a loving companionship and good life.

Walter serves as one of Speartek’s Backend Developer, architecting scalable services that keep our platform responsive and resilient. A lifelong technologist, he wrote his first C++ video game at just 14. Walter blends deep programming know-how with an inventive spirit, always hunting for elegant solutions that push performance to the next level. Colleagues value his calm focus, quick troubleshooting instincts, and willingness to share hard-won tips with the team.

When he’s off the clock, Walter unwinds with spine-chilling horror films and marathon sessions on his brand-new Switch 2. Though fearless in refactoring legacy code, he admits a healthy fear of snakes keeps him wary on hiking trails.

Feline Sidekick: Naranjito, Walter’s orange cat, is the undisputed ruler of his home office, often supervising pull-requests from a sunlit windowsill and insisting on celebratory treats after every successful deploy.

I'm a passionate web developer who enjoys creating websites and online stores that are both functional and user-friendly. Whether it's a simple website or a complex shop, I focus on ensuring everything runs smoothly for the best browsing experience. Outside of coding, I love spending time with my family and discovering new culinary adventures together.

In my personal life, family and faith are incredibly important to me. I treasure moments spent with loved ones, whether we’re trying new foods, exploring new places, or just enjoying each other's company. My relationship with God is a guiding force in my life, helping me grow spiritually and appreciate life's blessings.

Starlight is my tri-color Rat Terrier sidekick — 11 years strong with the zoomies of a pup and enough sass to last 11 more!

Craig Morman serves as Speartek's QA Lead, ensuring the quality and reliability of our sites, creating systems for software delivery, and managing projects. A self-taught professional, Craig approaches his work with diligence and a focus on practical, effective solutions that uphold Speartek's high standards. His adaptability and attention to detail play a key role in delivering exceptional results for clients.

When not at work, Craig enjoys the outdoors, lifting weights, spending time with his dog Lefty—who accompanied him all the way from the Yucatán—and relaxing with books or a game of chess. His grounded and thoughtful approach reflects both in his work and personal life.

Furry Friend - Lefty, Craig's loyal companion, is a seasoned traveler and occasional motivator, always ready to lend a paw when needed.

My first computer was an Apple IIe, the 'e' meant enhanced and for 1983 it was. But by 1989, it had fallen behind, so my dad gave it to me. At first, it was just for playing games (shout out Load Runner) but then I discovered Basic where I could program my own games. Back then to code you needed to understand the hardware, so it wasn’t long before I took the whole computer apart. Eventually, I got it back together, it still worked, and I was in love. 35 years later I still am, but now I fix other people’s computers for money.

When not desperately googling, I garden or repair the damage my 2 young boys have done. Any way here’s a picture of my chickens.
