Opportunity & Challenge

Magic Apparel, formerly Magic Headwear, is a large ASI and PPAI supplier of apparel – from hats to tshirts and uniform clothing.  Their customers are typically promotional product distributors that purchase in bulk and then decorate (embroider or imprint) the products ordered before then selling to the end customer.  Magic was operating in an industry where B2B ecommerce was quickly becoming a standard required to serve that customer base.  In addition to creating a professional appearance with their website, Magic needed an extensive product database and a way to reflect inventory levels from multiple warehouses.  Customer could order from their desired warehouse and all order and inventory data would be integrated with MAS90, Magic’s accounting and inventory management software. 

Strategy

Collaborate with clients on a design that has the flexibility to evolve as additional brands and product categories are added to a growing business.  Expand the Speartek platform to allow multi-location inventory.  Customize the checkout to allow a user to select which warehouse they want to order from.  Connect the website to clients accounting package. 

Solution

Launching in mid 2008, the new Magic Apparel Group website quickly became the leading source of sales across the company, including a seasoned sales rep team.  This allows sales reps to manage the relationship and be more effective in going after new accounts while customers order what they need with minimal administrative work required from Magic.  Integration to MAS90 provided an even greater gain in operational efficiency with transaction data auto populating invoices.  Magic has continued to expand the website with additional product lines and even developed a separate non-branded online catalog site powered off the same product database. 

Continued Success

The site has been operational for well over a year now so we can see the continuing return on investment through customer use.  Over recent months, the site has monthly averages of over 200 online orders representing nearly 11,000 items and $25,000 in sales.  Annualized that represents $300,000 in sales and 2500 orders that are automatically entered into the order management system without manual work required by administrative staff.  The operational cost savings alone have easily returned our clients investment many times over.
